About me - Matalamaa Photography

Petri Matalamaa

I am a father of two wonderful daughters and work as a teacher in Strängnäs, Sweden. My career started in 2003. As a teacher I have been volunteer working in Nepal, I traveled to a remote Village in Guatemala and have enjoyed many other adventures all around the world!

I teach science, mathematics, english and technology in the middle school but I have worked with kids from preschool to highschool.

I got in to photography more seriously in 2004 when I bought my first digital camera, a Konica Minolta Dimage A1. I had it with me travelling through parts of Australia, New Zeeland and south Asia. Not long after that I bought the Konica Minolta Dynax 7D and continued to document travels and every day events.

I stayed with the Sony brand when they bought Minolta and got me the a700 which I still have as a secondary companion to my main camera. My main camera used to be the a77 but in the beginning of 2014 I invested in the a99 which is still my companion halfway in 2016.

I still concider myself as a hobby photographer and my goal now is to learn more about studio photography and continue developing my documentary skills capturing people in different situations. I don't find myself in a specific corner of photography. I like to photograph almost anything that passes my camera!

Apart from my job I spend time with my hobbies:
- photography (of course),
- video editing (comes naturally too),
- instructing Body Balance
- spending time with friends,
- planning the next big trip or step in my life!

My photos are organized in to four basic categories and I have a separate category for video.
- INNER CIRCLE, these pictures are not accessible for anyone else than the closest persons to me.
- PORTFOLIO, feel free to browse around and comment if you like!
- ASSIGNMENTS, here I keep pictures from my assignments.
- WEDDINGS, self explanatory.

BLURB has become a great tool for me to present my photos. Visit: http://www.blurb.com/user/Matalamaa

Any kind of feedback is much appriciated!

All the best
