I am a father of two wonderful daughters and work as a teacher in Strängnäs, Sweden. My teaching career started in 2003. As a teacher I have been volunteer working in Nepal, I have traveled to a remote Village in Guatemala and enjoyed many other adventures all around the world!
I teach science, mathematics, technology and english in the middle school but I have worked with kids from preschool to highschool. I got in to photography more seriously in 2004 when I bought my first digital camera, a Konica Minolta Dimage A1. I had it with me travelling through parts of Australia, New Zeeland and south Asia. Not long after that I bought the Konica Minolta Dynax 7D and continued to document my travels and every day events. I stayed with the Sony brand when they took over Minolta camera department and bought the Sony a700 which became secondary camera body to my main camera when I invested in the a7. In the beginning of 2014 I got the a99 which stayed with me until the spring of 2018. I have now switched to Sony E-mount and have let go of the a-mount completely. In my camera bag I have the a7III with a set of lenses that gets me through most of the photo situations I want to shoot!
I still concider myself a hobby photographer and my goal is to keep learning more about studio photography. I also continue to develop my documentary skills capturing people in different situations with natural light and that combined with artificial light. I don't find myself in a specific corner of photography yet although most of my assignments have been weddings and children in the studio. I like to photograph almost anything that passes my camera!
Any kind of feedback is much appreciated and if you want my help to capture yourself, your children, dog, parents or any other being in any kind of situation please don't hesitate to get in touch with me by using the contact form in the menu!
All the best Petri Matalamaa
